Privacy Policy
Weider Publishing Limited. ("WEIDER"), publisher of Flex and Muscle and Fitness ("the Magazines") and www.flexonline.com.au and www.muscle-fitness.com.au ("the Websites") has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to the confidentiality of our user data. The following discloses WEIDER's information gathering and dissemination practices.
What information do we collect?
· When you order, we need to know your name, e-mail address, delivery address, credit or debit card number and the card's expiry date. This allows us to process and fulfil your orders and to notify you of the status of your order.
· We also ask for your telephone number which enables us to contact you urgently if there is a problem with your order.
· When you enter a contest or other promotional feature, we may ask for your name, address and e-mail address so we can administer the contest and notify winners.
Submitting personal information
When you supply any personal information to Weider Publishing Limited ("WEIDER") (e.g. for registration, e-shopping or chats) we have legal obligations towards you in the way we deal with that data. We must collect the information fairly, that is, we must explain how we will use it and tell you if we want to pass the information on to anyone else. Occasionally, WEIDER attempts to collect demographic data from subscribers (e.g., job, title, age, etc.). This information is used by editors to better understand subscribers and by advertisers to target their advertisements. It is not required for magazine fulfilment and should be submitted at the subscriber's discretion. WEIDER may also release subscriber data (excluding credit card numbers) to responsible third parties for marketing purposes. If you prefer that we not use subscriber information in this manner, please see Choice/Opt-Out below. We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as you use the service you have requested, and remove it in the event that the purpose has been met, or you no longer wish to continue your registration as a personalised user. We will ensure that all personal information supplied is held securely, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
If you are notified on a WEIDER Website that your information may be used to allow WEIDER to contact you, this means that WEIDER may contact you for a number of purposes related to the service you have signed up for. For example, we may wish to provide you with password reminders or notify you that the particular service has been suspended for maintenance. We will not contact you for promotional purposes, such as notifying you of improvements to the service or new services on WEIDER unless you specifically agree to be contacted for such purposes at the time you submit your information on the Website, or at a later time if you sign up specifically to receive such promotional information.
Access to your personal information
You have the right to request a copy of the personal information WEIDER holds about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. (We charge $25 for information requests.) Please address requests to the Data Protection Officer (email: data@weideruk.com.
Users under 18
If you are under 18, please get your parent/guardian's permission beforehand whenever you provide personal information to the WEIDER Website. Users without this consent are not allowed to provide us with personal information.
User Surveys
WEIDER occasionally runs surveys in which participation is optional. Participants are asked to supply contact information and demographic information that pertains to health and fitness. Contact information is also used to contact the user when necessary, or for the delivery of prizes or rewards. Users may opt out of receiving future survey mailings; please see the Choice/Opt-Out section below.
Use of Cookies
WEIDER may place a "cookie" in the browser files of a user's computer. The cookie itself does not contain any personally identifying information, but allows us to relate a user's use of the Website to information that the user has specifically and knowingly provided. Also, outside service companies display ads on our Website. These ads may contain cookies. While WEIDER uses cookies in other parts of the Website, cookies received via banner ads are collected by third-party vendors. We do not have access to this information.
